Additional Radiosophy HD100 Digital HD Radio Receiver Information

The HD100 is a high-definition Digital Radio that provides superior reception of HD digital AM/FM and existing AM/FM signals. This next-generation radio receives the additional digital channels many FM stations now offer on their current frequency. The crystal-clear sound of HD Radio has virtually no static, fade, hiss, or pops--with improved signal quality that makes AM sound like FM and FM sound like a CD. Unlike satellite radio, HD Radio is free; there is no subscription fee. An internal FM and an external AM antenna provide optimum reception in any environment. Seek control can search for all stations or digital (HD) stations only. Indicator lights for stereo and digital signal detection. The backlit graphical display highlights scrolling text such as station ID, song title, artist and important weather or traffic updates. Intuitive controls include full clock-radio functions, alarm and snooze control and ten station presets (five AM and five FM).

What Customers Say About Radiosophy HD100 Digital HD Radio Receiver:

Shortly after it came, the volume control could not be used and it was fixed at the highest volume and therefore unusable. I bought this radio several years ago at a special price. Quality control does not seem to be a strong point at Radiosophy.

For this, you will need to search for another, pricer model. (However, this is more a function of HD radio technology than of any particular radio). In any case, reception will be static free. As a final note, this radio meets expectations as a good, table-top clock radio (with standard clock-radio features), but does not provide the audio power or deep bass that one would expect from a boombox. If you don't currently own an HD radio, this modestly-priced radio is a good one for acquainting you with HD radio technology. Depending on the strength of the received signal, reception may vary from CD-quality clear & static free to static-free monophonic to static-free monophonic that cuts in & out. This radio has the intelligent design & flexibility to provide a standard interface for replacing the attached antenna with a more powerful, external antenna and/or antenna amplifier.

I live in the Washington DC area with quite a few HD stations. I want a clock radio with an alarm system that has an on-off button and one I can push in the dark by feel. Easy to set once you understand the instructions. Impossible to set or use unless you have the room lights on.

Very good at picking up and holding all signals. Clock impossible to see when radio is off with or without glasses.I thought it would be interesting to have an HD radio. After living with this radio for two months, I would not buy this as a night table clock radio. At this price, you could buy a very good clock radio with every feature and a clock I could see in the middle of the night. Good sound for a night table clock radio.

Attractive design but control buttons placed too close together and not efficiently located. This one has to be reset each day.

I live in Colorado Springs, and a station there I can't get a solid lock on, but I can pick up one in HD from denver. But that's not what impressed me. First it doesn't take batteries. It amazed my kids. Then the kids were all over the fact you could see the song playing, who sung it, the album titles, and all. It's sleek in design, and easy as heck to operate. The power cable is bulky (probably for shielding purposes and I say I really appreciate that).

We would be listening to the normal FM, when suddenly it kicked over into HD and everyone in the room said "wow". They suggest the Terk AM antenna, but aftetr some looking I decided upon the Kaito AN-200 Tunable Passive AM Antenna for around $35.There are a few con's. While FM HD comes in perfectly in my hard to reach electronic filled office, the AM is spotty. The two lights, stereo and Digital are a huge help in tuning.

You will love this radio even if you don't get HD radio in your area. The alarm clock doesn't have a battery back-up for power outages, and when you unplug the thing it forgets your presets and the time of day immediately. But what makes this thing stand out is that there is a Signal Meter built into the thing (just flip the enter switch a few times, you'll see it). The HD thing is flakey depending on your area, and it certainly is in mine.

The radio is indeed small, about the size of a thick book. This is a huge help trying to put an antenna somewhere to get a good spot. The speakers are nice, the sound is great. Well to suffice, they were sold. Even with all those, the nice display, the compact form form factor, the signal strength meter, and the fact that it doesn't have anything that a security minded office guard would object to is a sure sell for my computer geek filled world.

I was amazed by this radio. The display is crisp and extremely clear. And so will you.Their site recommends an external AM antenna if you want.

Other than that, the only thing I dont like is that the radio forgets the time every time it is unplugged. The only thing that I do not like about it is that you have to use the plug-in power source. Firstly, this is a great radio. it Does what it's designed to do VERY well and I find that it has great reception. If the radio had a battery hook up I would have given it 5 stars.
